I have seen the river Jordan
I have been in Galilee
I have stood in the streets of Gaza
I have been where the wounded bleed
I was there when Rachel Corrie
Stood against the machine
And they plowed her into the good earth
And buried her in the green
One white dove has been released
For flight into the night ‘til the fires cease
One white dove has been received
Another voice in the darkness
Calling for peace
From far away across the ocean
She had come to this foreign land
Leaving home and her family
In peace to make her stand
A single soul against the great gears
The force of steel on a broken wing
They crushed her spine and left her lifeless
The weight of metal on the bones of being
One white dove...
Can you see the gentle white wings
On the blue arc of the sky?
Can you see her hair like sunlight
And the strength burning in her eyes?
For Palestine, the day is coming
To seek their sovereignty
And remember how rachel corrie
Had tried to set them free
one white dove... |
